Montreal native Katherine Cleland is a trained lawyer with a lifelong passion for performing, spanning pairs figure skating, theatre, film, and television. She first took the stage at 14, exploring comedic theatre and musical performances. Raised in a competitive pairs ice dancing background, Katherine reached Skate Canada's Senior Level tests and competed in provincial and American events from ages 9 to 15. She completed her law studies by 18 and was admitted to the Quebec Bar at 22, earning two law degrees and completing all her education in French. Early on, she discovered her passion for the entertainment industry and completed her legal articling at Robic, LLP, one of Canada’s leading Intellectual Property firms. Her expertise spans Intellectual Property law, Entertainment law, as well as film and television production.
Katherine has gained extensive experience in the entertainment field with roles in television, film, video games, voice work, interviewing, and theatre, performing at the National Theatre School and Theatre LaChapelle. Notable credits include guest appearances on CTV’s The Listener, Saving Hope, and Played; acting opposite Mischa Barton in the thriller Apartment 1303 3D; and starring in the 1970s disco-era film Discopathe, which screened at festivals such as the American Cinematheque’s Beyond Fest (Los Angeles), Les Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois, and Comic-Con, attracting audiences across Europe, the U.S., and South America. Alongside acting, she served as a legal consultant to production companies, leveraging her media law expertise. She later worked as a Content and Development Producer for Bell Media on factual television shows, where she interviewed prominent figures including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre multiple times.
Fluent in both English and French, Katherine has worked on Canadian, American, and European productions in the Toronto and Quebec markets. Outside of entertainment and production, she enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle through running, tennis, and group training, contributes to her elementary and high schools as the youngest member of their Corporation, and cherishes learning family traditions in her Italian grandmother’s kitchen.
