Markus Blunder is a globally recognized filmmaker, advertising director, and photographer, renowned for his distinctive visuals and authentic character portrayals.
Hailing from Austria, Markus began his career assisting on The Neverending Story, Germany's highest-budget film at the time, before working on several major U.S. productions such as Jewel of the Nile and Enemy Mine.
After earning Silver and Bronze awards at the Houston World Fest for two of his short films, he joined David Fincher's renowned Propaganda Films in Hollywood. There, he received numerous accolades, including Billboard's Best Director and Best Music Video awards, for collaborating with over 40 prominent artists like Shania Twain, En Vogue, Des'ree, Texas, Gipsy Kings, Slayer, and Marc Cohn.
Building on his success in music videos, Markus transitioned into commercials, rapidly gaining recognition. The Saatchi and Saatchi New Directors Showcase named him "one of the world's hottest new directors." He has directed acclaimed global campaigns for prestigious clients such as Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, American Express, Nintendo, Mitsubishi, T-Online, and Minsheng Bank of China, among others.
Culminating his commercial career with two films for the Sochi Winter Olympics bid that helped secure Russia's victory, Markus co-founded Kombat Films in Rio de Janeiro, which has developed into a thriving commercial production company.
In 2009, Markus co-founded DreamRunner Pictures, an Austria-based film production company, alongside Ingvar Thordarson, a leading European indie film producer, and Icelandic lawyer and entrepreneur Gisli Gislason. In 2013, he co-wrote, produced, and directed his debut feature, Autumn Blood, which won Best Picture at both the San Diego and Hollywood Film Festivals and was later released on Netflix. Autumn Blood also received Best Picture and Best Director honors at the 2014 Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival.
