Tom Downing is an Irish-American actor and comedian known for his work in television and film. His credits include appearances on Amazon's Emmy-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, NBC's Chicago PD, Showtime's Shameless, CBS's BULL, as well as numerous films.
He has received several accolades, including Best Actor at ARFF, the Rising Star Award at the Canada International Film Festival, and Actor of the Year at TAFF. His films have earned 24 Best Film Awards at festivals such as Tribeca and the Sydney Indie Film Festival, and have been distributed worldwide through Gravitas Ventures, Time-Warner, Sony, Kino Lorber, and various major streaming platforms.
In New York, Tom trained under esteemed acting coaches Bob Krakower and Ted Sluberski. He graduated from The Second City Conservatory and The iO Theatre in Chicago, where he honed his skills in improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy. Additionally, he studied the Meisner technique at Artistic Home with Kathy Scambiatterra and holds a degree from Purdue University, where he was honored as the first recipient of the Outstanding Alumni in Film award.
Tom is the founder and Executive Producer of XO Productions, which creates independent films, commercials, and new media content. He also hosts their weekly industry-focused podcast, Before The Break, on iHeart.
He resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Natasha Coppola-Shalom, and their two children, Rowan and Lilybella.
