Nana Ghana is a Ghanaian born writer, director, producer, and actor whose work spans film, television, and theater. Known for emotionally grounded storytelling and visually intimate narratives, her work often explores themes of identity, resilience, womanhood, and belonging through the lens of the immigrant experience. Recognized by Entertainment Weekly and People magazine as one of Sundance 2018’s "Ones to Watch" for her breakout co starring performance in White Rabbit, Ghana has established herself as a dynamic creative force both in front of and behind the camera. She made her directorial debut with the short film Water Warrior, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. Her follow-up short film, Electing, earned her Best Director honors at the Oregon Short Film Festival. In 2019, Ghana directed LA Woman Rising, executive produced and narrated by Rosario Dawson, a cinematic portrait celebrating the strength, vulnerability, and complexity of women across Los Angeles. During the 2020 pandemic, Ghana independently wrote, directed, produced, and starred in her sophomore feature film, You Are Always Right Here, continuing her commitment to bold independent storytelling rooted in emotional truth and human connection. As an actor, Ghana has appeared in projects including Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, Netflix’s What/If, Mighty Oak, Lost Transmissions, Clowning, All's Fair, and a titular role in Decima. She shared the screen with talents including Brad Pitt, Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts and Simon Pegg. Her theater work includes Pelvic Floor, a play she wrote, directed, and starred in, which ran in Los Angeles from 2017 to 2019 and was featured at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Through every medium, Nana Ghana continues to champion stories that amplify underrepresented voices while bridging independent artistry with mainstream cinematic storytelling.
