Craig Goodwill launched his career as a narrative writer and director with his award-winning debut feature, Patch Town.
Patch Town, adapted from Goodwill's Directors Guild Award-winning short of the same name that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), had its international debut at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Moscow International Film Festival, and Shanghai International Film Festival (Panorama), before returning home to Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival. US distribution rights were acquired by Kino Lorber. Holding an 86% Tomatometer rating, Patch Town was released theatrically and is now available on NETFLIX and various digital platforms.
Craig recently completed his second feature, COMPULSION, which was sold domestically to KETCHUP/FOX Searchlight and internationally to WTfilms in France. Shot in Italy, the film is preparing for its 2017/18 festival circuit.
His next project, Bitter, is scheduled to shoot in Ireland in winter 2017. The script was written by Stephen Susco (The Grudge) and is produced by Taylor Hackford (Ray, Devil's Advocate) and Mike Macari (The Ring).
Craig Goodwill began his film career as a producer and director’s assistant on films including Good Will Hunting, 54, Driven, Superstar, Storm of the Century, and Loser, among others. He later traveled internationally, directing and producing documentaries for National Geographic, CBC, and Alliance Atlantis, with shoots in locations ranging from Haiti to India.
Goodwill continues to create award-winning work as a commercial director for major clients such as Nike, Microsoft, Bank of America, and Nokia.
