Kelsie McDonald is an Australian-English actor and screenwriter based in Los Angeles, USA.
Raised in Queensland, Australia's Sunshine State, Kelsie began acting at age 4 after being too young for acting school at 2. As an adult, she trained at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) before attending the Atlantic Acting School in New York City. In 2017, she embraced her English roots by completing a Master’s Degree at the Guildford School of Acting in the UK.
Kelsie has built a dynamic career across Australia, the UK, Mexico, and now Los Angeles, following her successful acquisition of a US green card.
In 2020, she starred in three feature films set for release in cinemas and on streaming platforms this year. Two of these US productions were filmed in Mexico, allowing her to refine her Spanish under director Rafael Altamira and the production companies Guerilla Video and Diaz Films. One film marks her feature-length writing debut, a bilingual romantic comedy titled No Translation Required, created in collaboration with Warner Brothers and Ted Lasso star Cristo Fernández, with whom she has worked extensively through his company Espectro MX Films. Both Kelsie and Cristo play the romantic leads.
In addition to major projects, Kelsie has contributed to award-winning short films, TV pilots, commercials, corporate videos, and theatre. She co-founded the London-based Encompass Theatre Collective, which developed and toured innovative, often immersive theatre across Europe.
Notably, she has won two Best Actress Awards: one for film at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival and another for stage performance at the Ipswich Festival.
Looking ahead, Kelsie aims to continue sharing stories from around the world, striving to challenge norms, provoke thought, and inspire change through her creative work.
