Jerrell Pippens, born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, is an actor, producer, and writer. A former NFL player, he transitioned into sports broadcasting after his athletic career. His distinctive look and presence led to numerous national commercials and print campaigns, which opened doors to acting opportunities. He is known for his recurring role as Normandy Parker on TNT's Murder In The First, his lead role as Nolan in the award-nominated project Daddy's Day, and starring as Chinua in the Pan-African Film Festival and Disney Plus-Hotstar project Three's Definitely A Crowd. Behind the scenes, Jerrell produces, co-writes, and co-directs several award-nominated projects through his company, Good Hope Productions, LLC. Audiences and industry professionals admire his charm, confidence, engaging smile, charisma, grit, toughness, athleticism, and commanding 6'3" stature. He is also developing a semi-scripted podcast addressing civil rights issues affecting underserved communities both locally and globally, combining his philanthropy, voiceover talent, writing, and hosting skills.
Jerrell has collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Mragendra Singh, Jesse Bochco, Eriq La Salle, Derek Cianfrance, Noam Murro, and Ifeanyi Okimo. He trained under acting coach Brian Reise and completed advanced studies at London's Identity School of Acting, performing Shakespearean and Greek tragedy roles, as well as works for British and American TV and film. He also completed master firearms training with Simon Cruz Jr. of Double Tap Training. Additionally, Jerrell is mentored by acting coach Anthony Gilardi, focusing on improv, cold reads, script and character analysis, and scene study, with roles including Stanley Kowalski in Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire and Sterling in August Wilson’s Two Trains Running.
Jerrell graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Communications degree and a minor in African American Studies. At Nebraska, he competed in football and track, earning five conference championships and participating in the Rose Bowl. Growing up in Pennsylvania, his younger brother acted at Philadelphia’s acclaimed Freedom Theatre, and Jerrell himself has stage experience. Now based in Los Angeles, he mentors young student-athletes, teaching life and business skills, financial literacy, the arts, and strategies for life beyond sports.
