Dusan Brown is an acclaimed actor, filmmaker, and versatile creative based in Chicago, Illinois. Raised between Chicago and Hollywood, he started his career as a child actor before branching out into writing, directing, editing, and music-infused storytelling.
As a filmmaker, Brown was honored as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts for Film and received the National YoungArts Foundation Gold Level award. He pursued Film Production with a focus on Directing at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. His coming-of-age short film *Reece*, which he wrote, directed, and edited during high school, garnered several festival awards and was featured at national and international festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying LA Shorts and The American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes. His short film *All In* was a semifinalist for the 50th Student Academy Awards.
Brown’s senior thesis film, executive produced by Viola Davis and Julius Tennon, won Best Student Film twice and was showcased at numerous festivals. His directing style is noted for its grounded and emotionally charged visuals, exploring themes such as identity, grief, masculinity, pressure, and resilience.
As an actor, Brown has earned AFI and NAACP Image Awards and boasts over 20 professional credits across film, television, animation, theatre, and commercials. His work includes Netflix’s Academy Award-winning feature *Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom*, the film *42*, guest appearances on network television, and series regular voice roles on prominent animated shows. On stage, he portrayed Young Simba in Disney’s *The Lion King* on Broadway and the North American Tour, earning a Young Artist Award nomination.
