Known as the captain of adventure, paraglider pilot and renowned Canadian climber Will Gadd faces no challenge too daunting.
An all-around action hero, Will Gadd is a true living legend. Year after year, he pushes the limits of ice climbing, and despite having claimed every major title—from the World Cup to the Winter X Games—he continues to amaze.
A seasoned veteran, Will relentlessly pursues new adventures with seemingly endless energy. In 2010, he showcased his skill by climbing a 130-foot (39.62 m) ice wall continuously for 24 hours at the Ouray Ice Festival in Colorado, reaching a total height of 25,414 feet (7.75 km).
Always hungry for fresh challenges, Will broke the world distance record on a paraglider three times and became the first person to cross the U.S. by paraglider after a grueling seven-week journey.
His appetite for adventure extends further—he excels in nearly every outdoor sport, including rock and ice climbing, kayaking, mountaineering, caving, Nordic and Alpine skiing, and mountain biking.
Nowadays, Will prefers setting more creative goals. "I've done enough, won as much as I need to," he says. "I'm at a point now where I feel like I have a lot less to prove." His focus is on applying what he’s learned in the most fascinating locations on Earth.
One such place was Greenland, where Gadd climbed beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet to assist South Florida scientist Jason Gulley in better understanding climate change’s impact on some of the world’s largest ice sheets.
In 2019, Gadd achieved the remarkable feat of scaling Della Falls. Located in the remote reaches of Vancouver Island and accessible only by boat, the falls drop vertically over 1,400 feet, making them Canada’s tallest waterfall.
Currently residing in Jasper, Alberta, Gadd continues pushing the boundaries of ice climbing, paragliding, skiing, and mountaineering while running a full-time guiding service in his cherished backyard.
