Dave Eastgate is a Sydney-based actor, stand-up comedian, writer, and musician from Australia.
He gained recognition starring in the ABC/BBC/Comedy Central hit Ronny Chieng: International Student (2017) and earned a Logie Award nomination for his role as cancer patient Joey in Channel 9's acclaimed drama Doctor Doctor (2016).
Dave appeared alongside his idols Glenn Robbins, Magda Szubanski, Gina Riley, and Jane Turner in The Comedy Channel's flagship sketch series Open Slather (2015). His other credits include the award-winning ABC comedies A Moody Christmas (2012) and its follow-up, The Moodys (2014).
He also featured in Maximum Choppage (2015), Soul Mates (2014), and Channel 9's popular comedy Here Come the Habibs! (2016). Dave completed over 300 performances on the inaugural Australian tour of Muriel's Wedding: the Musical, playing the principal role of Coach Ken Blundell and appearing on the original cast album.
Dave has appeared in numerous commercials for brands like Westpac, Canadian Club, XXXX Gold, and KitKat. His voice work includes countless radio ads, ABC iView’s animated series Bin Chickens (2017), and narrating Channel 9's light entertainment show Accidental Heroes.
His unique blend of stand-up comedy and rock’n’roll cabaret has earned him national and international acclaim, with sold-out shows at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, tours across the UK and US, and TV appearances in New Zealand and Japan—where he performs fluently in Japanese.
Since 2007, Dave has been a regular headliner at comedy clubs and festivals throughout Australia. He has appeared on ABC’s Tonightly with Tom Ballard (2017), The Comedy Channel’s Stand Up Australia (2006), and Just For Laughs at the Sydney Opera House. In 2016, he recorded his first hour-long televised comedy special at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre for ABC’s Comedy Next Gen, which aired multiple times on commercial TV. One of his standout moments was sharing the stage with Robin Williams at a small Kings Cross comedy club in 2010.
In addition to performing, Dave has worked extensively as a live studio audience warm-up artist. Starting with the original Big Brother (2001), he has entertained crowds on shows including Australian Idol (2003), So You Think You Can Dance Australia (2008), The X Factor (2005), The Voice (2012), Australia’s Got Talent (2007), and many others—including the never-aired Larry Emdur Show.
His corporate clients include The Australia Day Council, Nestlé, and McDonald’s. He has also contributed to charity events for organizations such as the St Vincent de Paul Society, The Sebastian Foundation, and White Ribbon.
Dave’s comedy-heavy-metal album, Bad Specimen, recorded with his band Dave Eastgate & Boner Contention, is available on iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube.
