Biografia
E'myri Lee Crutchfield, born in New Orleans, LA, is a young actress. At age eight, her mother enrolled her in acting classes after noticing her talent for impersonating people she saw at the mall. Alongside acting, E'myri practiced gymnastics from ages eight to twelve. She was home-schooled for four years, enabling her parents to travel with her between Los Angeles, CA, and New Orleans for auditions and to advance her acting career. In 2014, E'myri was among a select few chosen from thousands to attend the Nickelodeon Groundling Sketch Comedy training in Los Angeles. She began acting in local New Orleans theater productions and small independent films such as Papers Cranes, Pendulum, and We Three Kings. Her first speaking role was in the 2015 film Vacation. In 2016, she made her prime-time television debut as teenage Kizzy in the Roots remake, which aired on Lifetime, A&E, and the History Channel. That same year, she appeared as Zoey in Amazon Prime’s series The Kicks, centered on a middle school girls’ soccer team.
E'myri is a typical teenage girl and a junior at the private Ursuline Academy in New Orleans, where she is a proud member of the Merry Macs. She enjoys shopping for makeup and hair products, watching beauty tutorials online, reading, and listening to hip hop music.
E'myri has been honored as an honorary member of the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale and served as Grand Marshall for their 2017 Mardi Gras Parade themed "MKFF Hosts Game Day."
For her role in Roots, E'myri received a 2017 NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Youth (Series, Special, Television Movie, or Limited Series). She was also recognized by the Louisiana State Senate, the Office of the Mayor of New Orleans, Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu, and the New Orleans City Council at the request of Councilmember LaToya Cantrell.
