William Remington Moses was born on November 17, 1959, to actress Marian McCargo and businessman Richard Cantrell Moses Sr.
His parents divorced during his childhood. In 1970, his mother married Alphonzo E. Bell, Jr., who adopted William and his three brothers. Alphonzo later became a well-respected congressman in California. Raised on a citrus farm in Ojai, California, William showed little interest in show business until he met his brother Rick Moses' agent and appeared in a Sprite commercial. His first film role was in Choices (1981). Soon after, he landed the role of Cole Gioberti in the prime-time series Falcon Crest (1981), where he remained for five seasons.
William also guest-starred on Fantasy Island (1977), The Love Boat (1977), Maxwell Ltd: Finder of Lost Loves Pilot (1984), Hotel (1983), and participated in Battle Of The Network Stars (1983-1985). His athleticism made him stand out in the latter, where he met actress Tracy Nelson, daughter of rock star Ricky Nelson and Kristin Nelson. They married on Catalina Island in July 1987.
A month after their wedding, Tracy was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease. Due to her illness and treatment, they postponed starting a family. Their daughter, Remington Moses, was born on August 11, 1992. The couple divorced in 1997. William later married Sarah in 2002, and they have two daughters together.
He is best remembered for his roles in Falcon Crest (1981) and the Perry Mason Mysteries series (1989-1995). Coming from a gifted family, his brothers include actor Rick Moses, musician Graham Moses, and minister/director Harry Morgan Moses. His late mother, Marian McCargo, was a tennis champion and actress before becoming a mother and stepmother to seven boys. He also has three stepbrothers.
