Biografia
William Medici is a writer, producer, and director. He came up in film and television, studied it, and built a body of work across feature films, documentaries, scripted and unscripted series, and early streaming.
For William, storytelling and company building have always been the same craft. The son of an entrepreneur, he learned to read a profit and loss statement at twelve and has been building ever since. Across media, entertainment, and technology he has founded, scaled, and sold companies, with four successful exits, and has consistently thrived in startups and high-growth environments. The creative instinct is the through-line: narrative, positioning, and audience are the tools he uses to build.
He is the founder of Dolce, also known as Dolce Channel, an international media company with more than 2,200 hours of programming spanning feature films, documentaries, series, animation and specials, and lifestyle content. An early streaming adopter, Dolce launched on Roku in 2010 and was invited to ring the NASDAQ opening bell. Today Dolce operates as his advisory platform, partnering with founders and leadership teams on brand, positioning, and content.
William co-founded The Medici Foundation, a 501(c)(3) private foundation, with his wife Lisa, and serves as its chairman. Dedicated to the arts and cultural preservation, the foundation has supported the landmarking of Little Italy and Chinatown in New York City, Angelo Musco's Illy Cafe Art Series, the Off-Broadway play Bagabonds, the Veteran Film Lab, and the ongoing work of the New York City International Film Festival, where William sits on the board. He speaks Italian.
Before his creative and operating career, William served in the U.S. Army and in government, work that took him across the Balkans, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and to Italy, one of his favorite countries in the world. He is a member and supporter of The American Legion, the Association of the United States Army, CIA Officers Memorial Foundation, Animal Lighthouse Rescue, The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
