Biografia
Fabio Armiliato is a leading tenor on the international opera stage, renowned for his vocal prowess, impressive high register, innate musicality, dramatic intensity, and the charisma he brings to his roles. Born in Genoa, he graduated from the Niccolò Paganini Conservatoire. His career took off with his debut in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, quickly leading to major roles at prestigious opera houses worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, L'Opéra de Paris, the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House, Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Wiener Staatsoper. Celebrated for his passionate and thrilling portrayals, particularly as Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca, he is often regarded as the most memorable tenor in that role. Armiliato has enjoyed significant successes at venues such as the Arena di Verona, Teatro Real in Madrid, La Fenice in Venice, and the Opera of Rome's notable tour in Japan. He returned to La Scala as Mario Cavaradossi under the baton of Lorin Maazel and performed at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, conducted by Antonio Pappano. Recent notable achievements include his debut in La forza del destino at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, La Fanciulla del West in Rome — where his encore of "Ch'ella mi creda" during the opening performance was unforgettable — and Tosca at Caracalla, marking 20 years since his debut there. Between 2009 and 2010, he starred in Turandot at the newly rebuilt Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Rodolfo in Luisa Miller at the Opernhaus Zürich. He also starred as the leading male role in a new production of La Fanciulla del West at the Puccini Festival, celebrating the opera's 100th anniversary. The 2011 season began with his highly anticipated debut as Otello at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège. Later that year, he was honored with the inaugural Tito Schipa International Award in Ostuni and received honorary citizenship of Recanati in tribute to Beniamino Gigli. In addition to his operatic career, Fabio Armiliato appeared as a principal actor in Woody Allen's film To Rome With Love, released in June 2012.
