Tara Buck has crafted a diverse career spanning tragedy, comedy, farce, and fantasy. She is best known for her role as Ginger on HBO's gritty Southern vampire drama True Blood (2008). Initially appearing as a guest star in the first season, she quickly became a fan favorite and remained with the series throughout its seven-season run. Tara also had a recurring role in seasons four and five of the acclaimed Showtime series Ray Donovan, portraying Maureen Dougherty, an LAPD patrol officer and love interest of Terry Donovan.
In 2016, Tara starred in the Netflix original film Pee-wee's Big Holiday, produced by Judd Apatow and opposite Paul Reubens. That same year, she was cast as the lead in the independent feature Great Plains.
Tara earned praise for her compelling performance as Rhea Reynolds, an attention-seeking faux carver victim, on the FX series Nip/Tuck (2003). She has also played key roles in numerous television series, including The Orville, Shameless, Justified, Bones, The X-Files, Southland, Cold Case, The Shield, and The Closer, among others.
The stage has always been a significant source of inspiration for Tara. She has appeared in numerous theater productions, including Paula Vogel's Pulitzer Prize-winning play How I Learned To Drive and the West Coast premiere of Ten Cent Night by Marisa Wegrzyn. Tara received an Ovation Award nomination for her powerful performance in A Gift From Heaven.
Tara resides in Southern California with her husband, Chris Pierce, a professional musician. Beyond the arts, they share a passion for wine and co-own a boutique wine label called Ledbetter. Ledbetter Wines are featured in some of California's finest restaurants.
