Marshall Rimmer is a former Rooster Teeth Productions employee who served as an editor, writer, director, and actor. Currently, he is a creative video professional specializing in television commercials and branded entertainment for the digital space. He has produced commercial content for clients including Adidas, Disney, Microsoft, Nestle, Starbucks, State Farm, and Yamaha. Wired praised one of his projects as "the most brilliant satirical short in a long time," while IGN described another as "a great way to spend two minutes of your day." He has collaborated closely with top YouTube talents such as Rooster Teeth (8M subscribers), Markiplier (9M subscribers), Vevo (10M subscribers), and Smosh (21M subscribers). Presently, he is a Senior Producer at The Forge Collective in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. His previous roles include positions at the University of Chicago, Marshall Rimmer Productions, and Rooster Teeth Productions. His short films have been screened at Academy-Award qualifying festivals such as the Los Angeles Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Chicago International Children's Film Festival, Palm Springs International ShortFest, and Austin Film Festival, among others worldwide. His work has received multiple Webby Award nominations and accumulated over 34 million online views.
Born and raised in the United States, Marshall’s film music credits include Thick As Thieves. His films include Thick As Thieves, The Exquisite Corpse Project, Foolproof, and When I Grow Up.
For his education, Marshall graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, where he completed courses including Creativity and American Culture, Media Studies, Development of Motion Picture, Narrative Strategies, Image and Sound, Advanced Writing for Feature Film, Advanced Producing for Film and Television, and Advanced Narrative: Digital Production. At the Red McCombs School of Business, part of the same university, he took courses such as Business Finance, Fundamentals of Financial Accounting, Fundamentals of Managerial Accounting, Information and Analysis, Business Communication: Oral and Written, Principles of Marketing, Business Law, Organizational Behavior, Professional Communication Skills, Information Technology in Business, Professional Selling and Sales Management, and Global Marketing. He scored 1510 out of 1600 on the SAT in May 2004. Studying at UT Austin from 2006 to 2009, he created short films showcased at events like Rice Film Showcase, Saddle Up! NYC, and Hollywood Showcase. His TSTV show earned nominations from College Broadcasters, Inc. National Student Production Awards, SXSW Greenlight Awards, and the International Academy of Web Television Audience Choice Award. At Red McCombs, he earned a BBA in Marketing from 2005 to 2009.
Marshall began his career as a Part-Time Assistant Video Editor at Straight Shooter Productions in Colleyville, TX, from March 2001 to August 2005, editing projects for broadcast companies and industrial organizations. He then worked as a Videographer at Incomparable Camp Ozark in Mt. Ida, AR, from May to July 2007, where he shot and edited weekly ten-minute session videos and taught classes on video techniques. Following that, he was a Marketing Intern at dreamFLY Productions from June to August 2008, making sales calls to national advertising agencies, developing business proposals, managing operating budgets, scheduling freelancers, and overseeing deliverables. From October 2007 to September 2010, he served as a Video Production/Communications Specialist at Lark The Beard Productions, creating videos to raise Cerebral Palsy awareness featured on G4TV, Yahoo! News, The New York Times, CNN, and Good Morning America. He wrote and produced a ten-episode web series nominated for an Audience Choice Award by the International Academy of Web Television, managed freelance talent and equipment rentals, maintained social media channels, organized a television finale screening with cast appearances, and led a creative team producing video content that garnered over 2 million views and 19,000 YouTube subscribers.
Marshall then joined Rooster Teeth Productions in Austin, TX, as a Content Producer from October 2010 to May 2012. There, he wrote, directed, edited, and produced dozens of videos accumulating over 30 million views and attracting attention from TIME, WIRED, and CBS News. He developed a recurring video series that attracted over 20,000 unique viewers within its first day and sparked more than 9,000 comments. He led a cross-functional creative team in weekly video production, negotiated schedules and budgets ranging from $20,000 to $200,000, recorded ADR and voiceovers using professional sound equipment, and created YouTube headers, icons, and thumbnails. He appeared in RT Shorts, Past Cast, and Achievement HORSE, voiced Fido in Rooster Teeth's mini-series Nature Town, and had a minor voice role in Red vs. Blue. Marshall left Rooster Teeth in May 2012 to pursue other filmmaking and acting projects, including the comedy project The Exquisite Corpse Project, which was completed and released on April 23, 2012.
Since January 2013, he has worked as a Writer, Director, and Producer at The Forge Collective in Los Angeles, California, where he currently resides.
