Biografia
Heidemarie Hatheyer was an Austrian actress, singer, and cabaret performer, born in Villach, Carinthia, Austria. After completing high school, she initially pursued journalism but soon moved to Vienna to perform at the cabaret "Atelier am Naschmarkt." In 1936, she secured her first stage role at the Theater an der Wien alongside Zarah Leander in "Axel an der Himmelstür," featuring music by Ralph Benatzky and lyrics by Paul Morgan and Hans Weigel.
In 1937, she joined the Kammerspiele in Munich, and by 1942, she was performing at the Staatstheater Berlin. Discovered by Luis Trenker, she starred as the leading lady in his film Der Berg ruft! (1938). Subsequently, she signed a contract with Tobis Films, appearing in Die Geierwally (1940) and I Accuse (1941). Following World War II, due to her role in the latter Nazi propaganda film, she was banned from acting in cinema. Despite this, she continued performing on stage in Germany, Switzerland, and Vienna. From 1949 onward, she was permitted to return to film and television. In 1952, she married author Curt Riess.
During the 1960s, she received numerous awards. In 1984, she was honored with the German Filmband in Gold for her contributions to German cinema, and in 1989, she received the Filmband in Gold for her performance in "Martha Jellneck.
