Raised in Hawaii, Michael Medeiros relocated to New York to study under the renowned acting coach Uta Hagen and has since built a career as a writer, director, actor, and composer. His feature film, Tiger Lily Road, starring Tom Pelphrey (Mank, Ozark, Task), screened at U.S. and international film festivals, earning the Audience Award at Woods Hole. It was the opening night film at the Orlando Film Festival and ran at NYC's Quad Cinema, with distribution by FilmHub. He also wrote and directed 3 Minutes, a film addressing a mass shooting that premiered at the Soho International Film Festival, and the short film Underground featuring Victor Slezak. Medeiros is the writer, composer, and lyricist of A Wild Thing, a 1960s rock musical partially developed at The Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals, and a finalist for a 2024 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellowship. As an actor, he has appeared in major studio films and acclaimed independent projects, including X-Men: First Class, RoboCop 2, Synecdoche, New York, and Margot at the Wedding. On television, he starred in the Custer mini-series Son of the Morning Star and guest-starred on numerous shows, including Manifest and seven episodes of Law & Order. On stage, he received critical praise for his role in Goodman Theatre’s innovative production of Williams' Camino Real and has performed the lead roles in Sweeney Todd and Man of La Mancha. His theatrical credits also include performances at City Center Encores, The Public Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, Long Wharf, Huntington, the Kennedy Center, and many more. He was fortunate to spend ten summers at New River Dramatists, a writers' retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
