Eric Summer began his career in Brittany, France, directing short films, commercials, and corporate videos. He produced and directed "Phenomena," a documentary series spanning four seasons. Filmed in the USA, the series has been sold in over 50 countries.
In 1998, he started directing international TV series such as "The New Adventures of Robin Hood," "25 South," and "Dark Realm." To date, Eric has directed 19 TV movies and over 150 episodes across various genres, including thriller, comedy, fantasy, and action.
In 2001, he relocated to Montreal, Canada, to focus on screenwriting. He wrote his first English-language script, "Angeline," a feminist thriller with humor. A French comic book publisher offered to adapt the story into a graphic novel. "Angeline" became a series of four books published from 2004 to 2007, winning the award for "best comics series" at a major French comics festival in December 2006. In 2008, he was invited to direct a new TV series for the French channel TF1, "Profilage" ("Profiling"). His artistic choices in casting and visual style made the show highly innovative for both audiences and critics.
After meeting graphic designer Eric Warin in Montreal, Eric Summer wrote the story for "Ballerina" ("Leap!"), an animated film he co-directed. Produced by Quad (France) and Caramel Films (Quebec), the movie was released in France in December 2016, attracting 2 million viewers. Simultaneously, it launched a successful international run in countries including Spain, China, Russia, Mexico, Australia, Japan, and England. In the USA, the film was released by The Weinstein Company on August 25, 2017.
Since settling in Nashville, TN in 2014, Eric Summer divides his time between directing and writing. He is currently developing a new animated film set in Ireland and recently completed post-production on "Crystal Inferno," an action TV movie starring Claire Forlani and Jamie Bamber.
