Biografia
Aleksandr Vladimirovich Galibin was born on September 27, 1955, in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia). He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music, and Cinematography.
Between 1976 and 1980, Galibin was a permanent member of the troupe at the Komissarzhevskaya Theatre in St. Petersburg, where he performed alongside notable actors such as Ivan Krasko, Tamara Abrosimova, Stanislav Landgraf, Elena Safonova, Georgiy Korolchuk, Boris Sokolov, and Peter Shelokhonov.
From 1981 to 1992, he worked as a staff actor at Lenfilm Studio in St. Petersburg, appearing in over 30 leading and supporting roles in Russian and international films and television productions. Between 1992 and 1996, Galibin studied directing in Moscow under the renowned experimental director Anatoli Vasilyev and graduated as a director. Since 2003, he has served as the Artistic Director of the Pushkin Drama Theatre in St. Petersburg. Additionally, he has directed stage productions at the Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT), the Mariinsky Opera Theatre in St. Petersburg, and other venues both in Russia and internationally. Galibin is celebrated as a distinguished Russian actor and director, known for his classical nobility, intelligence, and effortless style. He has been honored with the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
Galibin delivered a remarkable performance in the lead role of the Master in "Master i Margarita" (2005), a widely acclaimed TV adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel directed by Vladimir Bortko. Galibin described his portrayal of the Master as an allusion to many oppressed writers during Stalin’s Soviet era, creating a compelling dynamic with an outstanding ensemble cast.
He is married to actress Irina Savitskova, and together they have two daughters. The family currently resides in St. Petersburg, Russia.
