Biografia
Rhyon Nicole Brown is emerging as a prominent star in the entertainment world, recognized as a versatile talent who brings complex, powerful characters to life on screen while also writing, recording, and performing her own original music. Following a standout role as Maya in season 4 of FOX's acclaimed drama series "Empire" (created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong), Brown has been promoted to series regular, with new episodes premiering on September 26, 2018.
In film, Brown stars alongside Oscar winner Gary Oldman and Jessica Alba in Goldfinch Studios' upcoming indie crime-action movie "Killers Anonymous," currently in post-production. She also recently completed filming the Tri Destined project "Throwback Holiday," scheduled to air on BET this fall.
One of Brown’s most demanding roles was portraying renowned R&B singer Michel'le in the Lifetime biopic "Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge and Michel'le." She then joined a star-studded cast in the hip-hop anthology series "Tales." Brown’s extensive TV and film experience includes appearances in ABC Family’s award-winning series "Lincoln Heights," Tyler Perry’s "For Better or Worse," and 50 Cent’s feature film "Get Rich or Die Tryin'."
Her passion for the arts and commitment to education earned her a place at the prestigious USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she majored in Film and Production. During her studies, she honed her behind-the-camera skills, writing a treatment and directing a music video for a Columbia Records artist’s song she had written. As her love for music deepened, she spent many nights in college dorms writing, recording demos, and performing covers.
In the studio, Brown collaborated with top producers, and four years after graduating, she returned to the entertainment industry, blending her talents in acting, writing, and music. Recently, she teamed up with renowned producer Harmony Samuels (known for working with Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, and Fifth Harmony), resulting in her debut EP "Pretty Girl." Set for release in early 2019, the EP features Brown’s distinctive sound across original tracks that combine soul-searching ballads with contemporary R&B and a pop twist, all accompanied by an engaging short film.
Brown’s artistic talents also fuel her philanthropic efforts. Through acting, writing, and music, she uses her platform to inspire others to embrace their true selves and find their purpose, just as she has found hers. Her dedication earned her the "Rising Star" Award from McDonald’s at the 2018 Trumpet Awards, honoring those who work tirelessly to improve lives and make a meaningful community impact.
