For over 35 years, Chuck Simon has been a prolific producer and a studio production and development executive. As Paramount Television Distribution's inaugural Executive in Charge of Production & Development, he launched shows including "Make Me Laugh," "Solid Gold," "Entertainment Tonight," and "Cold Sassy Tree." At Cannon Films, he established the company's three television divisions while serving as Senior Executive Vice President of Feature Films and President of Television. During a three-year span, Chuck oversaw more than twenty-six theatrical motion pictures. He was Executive in Charge of Production for films such as "Missing In Action," the Academy Award®-nominated "Runaway Train," John Frankenheimer's "52 Pick-Up," and TV mini-series like "The Sea Hawk." His most recent feature, the horror-thriller "SXTAPE," co-produced with Steven Schneider ("Paranormal Activity," "Insidious") and directed by Bernard Rose ("Mr. Nice," "Candyman"), was released in 2014.
Currently, he is developing an hour-long drama series based on characters created by Agatha Christie, in partnership with Sonar Entertainment. Diane Ruggiero ("Veronica Mars"), showrunner of the hit series "iZombie," is leading the project. Chuck is also producing a long-form civil rights drama about activist Clyde Kennard, as well as another series centered on the real-life exploits of renowned journalist Nellie Bly, in collaboration with the U.K.'s Raydar Media.
Throughout his television career, Chuck has produced hundreds of hours of special events and series, including the award-winning "Count Basie at Carnegie Hall" (CBS), "Hallelujah Gospel" (Showtime), "Starfest: The Stars Salute Public Television" (PBS), "Life & Other Issues with Molly Ivins" (PBS/MacNeil-Lehrer), the "XX Annual Tejano Music Awards" (Syndication), and the Emmy Awards. In 2002, he launched the SyFy Channel's Saturday Night Creature Features with his productions of "Terminal Invasion" and "Control Factor."
Chuck's consulting business in television, home video, and digital media represents a diverse global clientele, including OWN, BET/Viacom, Paramount Pictures, Olive Films, CBS Home Entertainment, Warner Home Entertainment, The Stephen J. Cannell Studios, Mill Creek Entertainment, Harry & Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, and the estates of Norman Mailer and John Ritter, among others. He maintains strong relationships with all the major talent agencies. Chuck is a current member of the Writers Guild of America West, a former member of the Producers Guild, and serves on the select committee of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is represented in film business affairs by Robert Myman of Myman, Greenspan, Finneman, Fox & Light LLP, and in television by Leslie Abell, former managing partner of the same firm.
