Biografia
Alfonso Rodriguez was born on January 5, 1957, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) and in 1979 studied TV and Film Production at the University of California, Irvine. His early career began as Head Colorist at Color System Tech, where he worked on classic black-and-white films such as "Miracle on 34th Street" starring Natalie Wood, "The Maltese Falcon" with Humphrey Bogart, and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," among others.
He returned to the Dominican Republic and took on the role of Director of Production at several prestigious TV stations, where he pioneered the creation of TV movies, sitcoms, and soap operas produced locally for the first time. In 1989, he directed his first feature film, "Tráfico de Niños," followed by the popular soap opera "Cadena Braga." Alongside his successful sitcoms "Ciudad Nueva," "Electrolocos," and "Pobre Presidente," he produced "Grandes Series Dominicanas," a collection of 10 mini-series with five one-hour episodes each.
In 2003 and 2004, he created the TV movies "Jarabe de Mar" I, II, and III, and in 2006, released the hit romantic comedy "Un Macho de Mujer." His most recent project, "Yuniol," has become his most acclaimed work, receiving outstanding reviews from both national and international critics.
