Morgana Robinson is an acclaimed television and film actress renowned for her comedic portrayals of quirky, complex characters. In 2012, she won Best Breakthrough Artist at the British Comedy Awards for her sketch show Very Important People. In 2018, she received a BAFTA for Dreamland, a short film she co-created and starred in, written by Sharon Horgan.
Her breakthrough came in 2009 with The Morgana Show, a six-part comedy sketch series on Channel 4 that she co-wrote and starred in. The show featured a variety of original, surreal characters, including Gilbert, a confused teenage boy who achieved cult status on YouTube and remains one of her most popular roles.
In 2011, Morgana portrayed Carol Caplin, Tony Blair’s brief romantic interest, in The Comic Strip Presents... The Hunt for Tony Blair on Channel 4, alongside Jennifer Saunders, Rik Mayall, Robbie Coltrane, Harry Enfield, and Stephen Mangan.
Morgana’s exceptional talent for impersonation led to two commissioned series. Very Important People, a six-part satirical impressions show on Channel 4 in 2012, starred her alongside Terry Mynott and featured impressions of Cheryl Cole, Fearne Cotton, Russell Brand, Amy Childs, and Danny Dyer. The show earned her the Best British Breakthrough Act at the British Comedy Awards. In 2016, Morgana Robinson's The Agency aired on BBC2 as a seven-part series, with Morgana playing all the celebrity clients of a talent agency, including Miranda Hart, Natalie Cassidy, Mel and Sue, and Joanna Lumley.
In 2013, Morgana began appearing in Toast of London, playing Jemima Gina, the unstable, electronically tagged lover of Matt Berry’s Stephen Toast. In the second series, she portrayed Lorna Wynde, a daytime soap star with a wonky eye, and in the third series, she played Emma, the girlfriend of Peter Davidson and partner in his illegal alcohol business.
Vic and Bob's House of Fools, a sitcom written by Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, aired on BBC2 in 2014, featuring Morgana as Julie, a camera-obsessed and unpredictable landlady, a role she reprised in the 2015 second series.
In the BAFTA-winning series Inside No. 9, Morgana played an alcoholic former Big Brother contestant alongside Rhys Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton, Fiona Shaw, Felicity Kendall, and Peter Kay.
Dreamland, a short film Morgana helped conceive and co-star in, written by Sharon Horgan, featured her as the downtrodden sister to Sheridan Smith’s character, who is anxiously guarding a dangerous secret. The film won the BAFTA for Best Short Film in 2018.
Since 2016, Morgana has portrayed the vindictive and dangerous Pippa Middleton in Channel 4’s The Windsors, a critically acclaimed comedy about the royal family, alongside Harry Enfield, Hadyn Gwynne, Hugh Skinner, and Louise Ford. The show was nominated for the Rose d'Or for Best British Comedy Series in 2018.
Upcoming projects include Truth Seekers, an Amazon series starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, written by James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders, in which Morgana plays Janey Feathers, a former glamour model turned psychic healer.
Morgana also appears as Mrs Jenkins in Robert Zemeckis’s remake of The Witches, starring Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, and Stanley Tucci. This Warner Brothers production is set for general release in 2020.
Additionally, Morgana will star in the Emmy-nominated series Urban Myths as Tracey Emin, depicting the week leading up to her creation of the famous bed artwork.
