Jesse Joyce is a stand-up comedian and Emmy-nominated, WGA Award-winning writer who divides his time between Los Angeles and New York. He has built a reputation as a favorite headliner in the comedy world, captivating audiences worldwide with his performances and earning respect from comedians at all levels for his writing.
Jesse has appeared on numerous Comedy Central shows, including Comedy Underground with Dave Attell, Live At Gotham, and frequently on @midnight with Chris Hardwick. His TV credits also include Last Call with Carson Daly, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC, and he was a top 20 semifinalist on Last Comic Standing in 2010. He has made regular appearances on History Channel’s I Love the 1880s, hosted AMC’s Date Night, been featured on Entertainment Tonight, and appeared on Talk of The Fest from the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. He is also a frequent guest on RedEye with Tom Shillue.
In 2011, Jesse starred as Price in Stags, a dark comedy about four lifelong New York City bachelors, produced by Ben Barenholz, known for Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, and Requiem for a Dream.
As a writer, Jesse has contributed to many successful Comedy Central shows and specials and currently writes for the Emmy-winning @Midnight. He assisted Dave Attell in writing Comedy Underground with Dave Attell and is one of the longest-serving writers for the Comedy Central Roast franchise. Jesse has been a longtime joke writer for Seth MacFarlane, including for the 85th Annual Academy Awards on ABC. He also wrote for the 2014 BET Awards hosted by Chris Rock, Hulu’s Triumph’s Election Special 2016 for Robert Smigel—earning a 2016 Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special and winning the 2017 WGA Award for Best Comedy/Variety Special—The 2013 and 2015 Guys Choice Awards on Spike TV, and served as a writer and consulting producer on The Jim Norton Show for Vice.com.
Jesse is perhaps best known for his decade-long involvement with the Comedy Central Roasts. Since 2007, he partnered behind the scenes with the late Greg Giraldo on roasts of David Hasselhoff, Joan Rivers, Larry the Cable Guy, Bob Saget, and Flavor Flav. His roast writing also extended to the TBS Celebrity Roast of Cheech and Chong and led to contributions on Comedy Central’s Burned! The Roasts’ Most Outrageous Moments, as well as roasts of Donald Trump, Charlie Sheen, Roseanne, James Franco, and Justin Bieber.
His writing has been featured by Joan Rivers on TV Land’s How’d You Get So Rich? and he was a staff writer for both seasons of The Burn with Jeff Ross on Comedy Central from 2012 to 2013. His work in television, radio, and print advertising earned him several American Advertising Awards dating back to 2001.
Jesse has performed live across the United States and in 17 countries across four continents, entertaining audiences at clubs, colleges, and festivals. A seasoned USO performer, he has toured overseas multiple times. He has appeared at major events such as the 2013 Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, the TBS Comedy Festival in Las Vegas, the Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival in Austin, Gilda’s Laugh Fest in Grand Rapids, The Great American Comedy Festival honoring Johnny Carson’s legacy, and the Boston Comedy Festival. When not headlining clubs nationwide, he regularly appears on Comedy Central’s @midnight.
Jesse currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Emily, and their dog, Petey.
