Tereza Hirsch is a Czech-German acclaimed director, screenwriter, and producer, renowned for her films The Guilt List (2016), Beyond Her Lens (2019), and Your Move, My Lady (2024). She has also directed numerous music videos across three continents and served as Content Director for 12 episodes of the reality show Survivor Czech and Slovak (2022). Currently, she is producing and finalizing her debut feature, Devil's Game, scheduled to premiere this year. Additionally, Tereza is working on her second LA-based feature, set for release in 2026.
Born in Germany to a German mother and Czech father, Tereza was raised mainly in the Czech Republic, with part of her childhood spent in Paris. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Anglophone Studies from Metropolitan University in Prague and a Master's in Film and Media Production from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles in 2016. She further honed her acting skills through an 8-week course at the Artist Advantage Group Academy in California, studying under Judd Laurance. Fluent in Czech, German, English, French, and Spanish, Tereza founded her production company, Hirsch Pictures, in Los Angeles before relocating it to Prague, where she now undertakes various projects including music videos, commercials, and short films.
Tereza began her career in journalism. In 2014, alongside students of writer Dana Emingerová, she co-published the short story collection A World in a Drop of Dew (Svet v kapce rosy). She launched the website for the online music magazine Brouk Music and contributed articles on her volunteer work in India to Xantypa magazine. Her cultural event coverage appeared in Prager Zeitung, the largest foreign-language newspaper in the Czech Republic, and she wrote music pieces for Report and Rock & Pop magazines. Early in her filmmaking journey, she worked on scenography for Cyril Zima’s film Hot Set, which has over 3.5 million YouTube views, and for the music video Feel Nothing by The Plot In You, which has amassed 40 million views.
Her directorial debut, The Guilt List (2016), is a political drama set in 1953 that was selected for over 60 international film festivals and won 16 awards, including Best Short Film and Best Cinematography at the Brazil International Film Festival. In 2017, Tereza directed commercials, including one for Toyota, and music videos. She also contributed to the short film Mammoth by Ariel Heller, which won the 2017 Student Oscar. That year, she and other young Czech writers published their second book, The Packaging Age (Doba Obalová). Following the success of The Guilt List, she established Hirsch Pictures and produced the acclaimed short Beyond Her Lens (2019), inspired by war photographer Jana Andert and starring Lucie Vondrácková. The film was showcased at over 80 festivals and earned more than 25 awards.
In 2020, Tereza directed the music video "2 Glasses" for German singer Sani, filmed in Prague. She continued collaborating with Lucie Vondrácková on the music video "Lovemaking" (Milování), which creatively used UV lighting and colors and won the Canadian Cinematography Awards. She also directed "The Power of the Sea" (Síla moře) for young singer Patrik Malý, shot in Berlin. In 2021, she directed several music videos, including Raego & Lucie Vondrácková’s Potrebuju pauzu, Milan Peroutka & Perute’s Na perutích, and David Deyl’s Nadeje se vrátí, while developing her first TV series. She directed pilots for the TV series Four Mothers and Your Move, My Lady, featuring prominent Czech actors such as Lucie Vondrácková, Milan Donutil, and Jaromír Nosek. After relocating to Los Angeles, she completed her debut feature Devil's Game, a psychological horror thriller set to premiere in 2025, and is currently producing her second LA-based feature planned for 2026.
