Determined, intelligent, and multi-talented, actress Caroline Sunshine has rapidly emerged as a rising star in the entertainment world through the compelling characters she has portrayed on screen. In 2015, Caroline starred as Emily Jordan in Fullscreen Films' The Outfield. Set for nationwide digital release on November 10 via iTunes, the film, directed by Eli Gonda and Michael Goldfine, centers on high school baseball players Frankie (Cameron Dallas), Jack (Nash Grier), and Austin (Joey Bragg), whose futures seem set. However, their senior year brings unexpected changes that lead them to question their true paths. Caroline shines as Emily, the determined, caring, and protective girlfriend of Jack.
Born in Snellville, Georgia, and raised in Orange County, California, Caroline developed a passion for the arts early on, diving into dance, film, television, and music. Her grandmother introduced her to classic Hollywood films, while Saturday morning movie sessions with her father were a cherished routine. Leading up to high school, Caroline trained professionally in ballet, a skill she later incorporated into her film and TV roles.
2010 marked a breakthrough for Caroline when she made her feature film debut as Barbara Winslow in Twentieth Century Fox's Marmaduke, starring alongside Judy Greer, Lee Pace, Owen Wilson, Emma Stone, and George Lopez. She then secured a lead role in the Disney Channel Original Series Shake It Up (2010), which gained international acclaim from 2010 to 2013. Caroline's portrayal of Tinka Hessenheffer earned praise from People Magazine critic Tom Giliatto, who called it "the best performance on the show." Working on Shake It Up sharpened her comedic timing and featured her use of an Eastern European accent in every episode, while also allowing her to display her singing and dancing abilities and collaborate on several show-produced albums.
After Shake It Up concluded, Caroline chose to pursue higher education and is currently a sophomore at Claremont McKenna College, majoring in International Relations and Economics. Balancing film and television work, she is active at the Mgrublian Center for Human Rights, a member of the Model United Nations Team—ranked #1 on the West Coast and #6 nationally—and a writer for The Vanguard, the campus magazine focusing on technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. She aspires to be a strong role model for women of all ages, demonstrating that determination can lead to achieving any goal.
On the philanthropic side, Caroline dedicates time to several organizations, including The Starkey Hearing Foundation, and is a graduate of the National Charity League. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, surfing, wakeboarding, and engaging in adrenaline-pumping activities like skydiving and bungee jumping.
