María Alexandra Catherine Siachoque Gaete, known as Catherine "Cathy" Siachoque, is a Colombian-American actress renowned for her roles in soap operas, especially as a villain in telenovelas like Decisiones, La Venganza, Las Juanas, Reina de Corazones, and more.
Born in Colombia on January 21, 1972, she was raised by her parents Blanca Gaete and Felix Siachoque. In 1997, while filming Las Juanas, she met fellow telenovela actor Miguel Varoni; they married in 1999.
Catherine is a skilled classical ballet dancer and professional actress who films soap operas and series in the United States, Colombia, Venezuela, and Mexico, primarily for the American television network TELEMUNDO and the global platform NETFLIX.
She has earned numerous awards, magazine covers, newspaper features, YouTube interviews, red carpet appearances, and other accolades as a distinguished figure in the entertainment and dramatic arts industry.
Her career began as a professional classical ballet dancer before transitioning to musical theater, where she stood out in productions such as La jaula de las locas, La casita del Placer, and Peter Pan. The latter caught the attention of prominent producers, leading to her casting in various television productions. She gained recognition as the revelation of the year with her performances in Survive and The Shadow of Desire.
Her Telemundo credits include Las Juanas (1997), Amantes del Desierto (2001), La Venganza (2003), Te voy a enseñar a querer (2005), Pecados ajenos (2008), Tierra de Pasiones (2006), and the anthology series Decisiones (2006). Though often cast as a villain, she also portrayed the sympathetic Doña Hilda de Santana in Sin Senos no hay Paraíso (2009). In 2010, she returned to villainous roles as Cecilia Altamira in the remake of ¿Dónde Está Elisa?. In 2011, she played a complex character in La Casa de al Lado, acting alongside her real-life husband Miguel Varoni and co-stars Maritza Rodríguez, Gabriel Porras, and Karla Monroig. In 2014, she resumed villain roles in Reina de Corazones, starring Paola Núñez, Eugenio Siller, and Juan Soler. Since 2016, she has portrayed Hilda Santana in Sin senos sí hay paraíso, available on NETFLIX.
Currently, Catherine is focusing on personal growth and intellectual development to advance her career. Academically, she is pursuing a Bachelor of General Studies in International Relations at the University of Miami. Additionally, she has been accepted to Harvard University, where she enrolled in "The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports" at Harvard Business School, starting January 4, 2022.
