Biografia
Richard Tse was born in Indonesia, raised in Hong Kong, and moved to Canada at the age of 18. He views his life as divided into two distinct phases, at least for now. The first phase was structured, logical, and predictable. He excelled academically, graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Computer Science, and spent 15 years working as an IT professional in various financial and insurance firms. Although he appreciated the stability of his career and life, he felt something was missing. He yearned for a challenge and a way to express himself. Having a longstanding passion for the performing arts, he embarked on the second phase of his life with a significant change.
Richard began studying acting under numerous teachers in Toronto, including Miriam Laurence. He secured roles in television commercials and acted in films and TV shows. In 2001, he appeared in the musical 'Iron Road', which won the Best New Musical Dora Award. His role in the 2005 Summerworks Festival play 'Pu-Erh' solidified his ambition to pursue serious acting, with NOW Magazine praising his 'nuanced performance'. In 2007, he was part of the 'outstanding ensemble' in the Summerworks Festival play 'Jasmine' (a sequel to 'Pu-Erh'), as recognized by NOW Magazine. In 2008, he worked with director Weigo Lee, a four-time Hong Kong Drama Awards Best Director, and veteran actor Liu Kai Chi, a two-time Hong Kong Film Awards Best Supporting Actor, portraying Mitch in the Cantonese stage production of 'Tuesdays with Morrie'. This production was highly successful within the Toronto Chinese community.
In addition to acting, Richard executive-produced and starred in the short film 'Embedded', which has been featured in various film festivals.
Beyond acting, Richard is also passionate about singing. He has studied with several vocal coaches, including Brandon Brophy, and serves as the lead vocalist for 'Dynasty Music Group', a highly regarded band in the Chinese community across North America. He has performed with the band in cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City, Chicago, Boston, Ottawa, and Hamilton.
