Renowned and award-winning creator and screenwriter Ron Leshem, based in Boston, is the visionary behind the original Euphoria, which debuted in Israel in 2012. After dedicating seven years to bringing the project to the U.S., the acclaimed series was transformed into the HBO Emmy®-winning phenomenon, with Leshem as executive producer. Euphoria’s third and final season is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
The American-Israeli writer-producer is celebrated for crafting compelling narratives that delve into adolescence, hardship, and unwavering bravery. Leshem created Max’s drama Valley of Tears and executive produced NBC’s psychological thriller Allegiance, adapted from his critically praised series The Gordin Cell. His 2019 thriller Incitement, co-written by him, earned nine nominations and two wins at the Ophir Awards (Israel Film Academy Awards), including Best Picture. Previously, Leshem served as Chief of Content and Programming at Keshet TV, where he managed production of major Israeli hits such as Prisoners Of War (later adapted by Showtime as Homeland), The A-Word, Arab Labor, and Traffic Light.
His series Bad Boy will launch globally on Netflix on May 2, 2025. After its initial airing on Israel’s HOT Network in November 2024, Bad Boy garnered seven Israeli Television Academy Awards, including Best Drama Series and a screenplay award for Leshem. In summer 2025, Leshem’s eagerly awaited Trust No One will also debut on Netflix, and the second season of his popular series No Man’s Land will air on Hulu.
Beyond television and film, Leshem is a bestselling author who earned Israel’s prestigious Sapir Prize for his debut novel Beaufort. The book topped Israel’s bestseller lists for two years and has been translated into more than 20 languages. The film adaptation, co-written by Leshem, received widespread international acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film. His subsequent novels, The Underground Bazaar and When We Were Beautiful (published in the U.S. as When the Ocean Remembers and Under the Secret Moon, respectively), were also international bestsellers. Leshem is the only individual in Israel to have won the country’s three major awards in film, television, and literature.
