Biografia
Sherry Cola is a multi-talented comedian, actress, and writer who has gained recognition in the entertainment world over the past year. Honored as a "Fresh Face" at the renowned Laugh Factory, Cola has demonstrated her versatility, excelling in both drama and comedy across scripted projects as well as delivering original, hilarious stand-up performances.
In 2019, Cola starred in Freeform's series "Good Trouble," a spinoff of the popular show "The Fosters." The series follows Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) as they navigate young adulthood in Los Angeles. Cola stands out as Alice, a first-generation Asian-American who manages the apartment complex where the two women live. On the film side, Cola recently completed filming on the Untitled Drake Doremus Project, co-starring with Shailene Woodley, Jamie Dornan, and Sebastian Stan. Set in contemporary Los Angeles, the film tells the story of Daphne (Woodley), a woman in her thirties experiencing love and heartbreak over the span of a year.
Originally from Shanghai, China, Cola and her family relocated to the United States when she was four, settling in the San Gabriel Valley near Los Angeles. She attended California State University Fullerton, majoring in Entertainment and Tourism Studies, and was active at the campus radio station Titan Radio. Known for her natural comedic talent and storytelling ability, Cola drew a loyal audience with her humorous takes on celebrity news and new music. After graduating, she joined AMP Radio 97.1FM, where she handled promotions, social media, board operations, and engaged with fans on the street. Under the mentorship of television host and radio personality Carson Daly, Cola developed her skills further and hosted her own Sunday night show, interviewing artists like Noah Cyrus, Fifth Harmony, and Khalid. Alongside radio, she pursued improv and character creation in Los Angeles. When friends launched a web series called "Luber," a parody of ride-sharing drivers, Cola introduced one of her most popular characters, Lil' Tasty—a Lakers-loving, jersey-wearing, Timberland-clad rapper who quickly amassed over 20 million views on Facebook.
Cola broke into television in 2017 with a seven-episode role on Amazon's "I Love Dick," starring opposite Kevin Bacon and Kathryn Hahn. She made a memorable impression as Natalie, a jewelry maker and student of Dick (Bacon) at the art institute in Marfa, Texas. She later appeared on MTV’s comedy series "Safeword," performing alongside Kevin Hart, Ludacris, and LaLa Anthony. In 2018, Cola secured a recurring role on TNT’s hit show "Claws," joining the cast in season two. The series centers on five diverse manicurists caught in dangerous situations with problematic men. Cola quickly became a fan favorite as FBI Special Agent Lucy Chun.
As a stand-up comedian, Cola continually develops new material and regularly performs at The Laugh Factory, The Improv, and The Comedy Store. She also filmed an episode of E!’s "Funny Dance Show" (2019) with Jackie Tohn, Solomon Georgio, and London Brown, and has collaborated with Kevin Hart’s LOL Network and Funny or Die over the years.
