Biografia
Born in Ethiopia and raised in California, Amari McCoy began her acting journey in print and commercials at just eighteen months old. She made her television debut at age six on A Little Help With Carol Burnett. This experience ignited her passion for acting, and she has remained dedicated to her craft ever since. Her television appearances include roles in 9-1-1, Frasier, Goliath, How I Met Your Father, American Auto, and Waffles + Mochi. Recently, Amari worked with director Tamika Miller on the film Honor Student.
Amari started voice acting at six, landing a recurring role on Disney Jr.'s T.O.T.S. By ten, she was a series regular on seven animated shows, including Pretzel and the Puppies, We Baby Bears, Puppy Dog Pals, Hot Wheels Let's Race, and Goldie. Currently, she stars as the lead in Disney Junior's Hey A.J.!—a show inspired by books from former NFL champion Martellus Bennett, where A.J. transforms everyday moments into thrilling adventures. Amari has also provided voices for numerous other animated characters. In 2021, she contributed to the all-star cast of SING in the animated short Come Home, directed by Garth Jennings, and she secured roles in the animated films Sneaks and Fearless.
Amari is a joyful, old soul with contagious energy who delights in making those around her laugh. Her hobbies include beach outings to dive into waves, sketching, sewing, singing, and spending time with her puppy, Harley.
