Samantha Karen Fox was born on 15 April 1966 in Mile End, East London, UK. Her parents were Carole and Patrick Fox, and she had a younger sister named Vanessa (1972–2023).
At 16, she began her career as a nude model for the "Page 3" feature in British tabloids. In 1983, it was reported that her breasts were insured for $500,000.
That same year, she recorded with her first band, SFX, releasing songs like "17 and Holding," "My Old Man," and "Aim To Win," though none charted. She returned to top modeling before relaunching her music career as a solo artist in 1986.
Defying the stereotype of being just a pin-up, her single "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" topped the charts in 15 countries in 1986. She also had seven other Top 10 hits: "Do Ya, Do Ya (Wanna Please Me)" (1986), "Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now" (1987), "Love House" (1988), "I Surrender (To The Spirit Of The Night)" (1987), "I Only Wanna Be With You" (1988), "Let Me Be Free" (1997), and "Santa Maria" (1998).
In 1995, she formed the band Sox to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Go for the Heart." The UK public awarded them 65,436 votes, placing fourth, which was insufficient to advance to the finals.
That year, she made a cameo appearance alongside Indian actor Govinda in the musical comedy Rock Dancer (1995). Her brief stage appearance in a white costume was featured prominently on lobby cards across India.
By 2002, Sam Fox was ranked #81 on VH1's 100 Sexiest Artists list.
In 2003, she made headlines again when she disclosed her relationship with her career manager, Myra Stratton.
