Josh Lieb's career includes roles as Producer and Show Runner of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Executive Producer positions on NewsRadio and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He earned 7 Primetime Emmy Awards as a producer and writer for The Daily Show. In 2009, he released a young adult novel, I Am A Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to Be Your Class President, which became a New York Times Bestseller. His second novel, Ratscalibur, was published in 2015, followed by his third book, Chapter Two is Missing, in 2019.
Raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Lieb graduated from Harvard University, where he was an editor for The Lampoon, the university's humor magazine. After graduating, he began writing for Twisted Puppet Theater, The Jon Stewart Show, and NewsRadio. He later worked as a producer or consultant on shows such as The Simpsons, Drawn Together, Sirens, Nikki, I Hate My Teenage Daughter, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Lieb worked at The Daily Show from 2006 to 2010, during which time he also served as Executive Producer of The Rally to Restore Sanity And/Or Fear and co-edited and co-authored Earth: The Book.
In 2013, he wrote and directed a series of comedic shorts to support the charity Water.Org, featuring stars like Matt Damon, Jessica Biel, Sir Richard Branson, and Bono.
