Peter Shaw began his career in the film industry in the late 1970s, producing numerous documentaries and TV specials such as Race for the Double Helix, Ghost Hunter, Will to Work, Let's Face It (series), Wind in the Wires, Sport of Kings, Maharajahs, World of Miss World, Victorians, and Display.
In 1983, he founded United British Artists (UBA) and served as its CEO, partnering with Richard Johnson, Albert Finney, Glenda Jackson, John Hurt, Maggie Smith, Diana Rigg, and Harold Pinter. By 1995, he had become the sole owner of UBA.
Besides his own productions, UBA's credits include Turtle Diary, Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne, The Biko Inquest, Wind Prints, and several London theatre productions.
He has collaborated with major studios such as Warner Bros, MGM/UA, The Goldwyn Company, The Rank Organisation, Embassy Pictures, Goldcrest, Hallmark, Granada, and Showtime.
After retiring from production in 2004, he returned in 2014 to produce the stage musical Water Babies - A Musical Adventure, which was nominated for Best Regional Production in 2014, as well as the upcoming feature film Girl Magic.
From 2004 to 2010, he served as a director of The Douris Corporation Inc., which owned and distributed The Rohauer Library—a collection of 700 classic films, including the complete works of Buster Keaton.
