Simon David Hunter is a writer, producer, director, and entertainment executive whose career spans more than two decades across film, television, documentaries, and international productions. Working across Australia, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and North America, he has developed, produced, and directed commercially driven screen entertainment for international audiences.
As a filmmaker and producer, Simon has created feature films, television projects, and more than fifty documentaries and factual productions for international broadcasters and platforms. His projects and collaborations have involved major studios, broadcasters, streaming platforms, and production companies across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, including Sony Pictures Television, NBC, FOX, Prime Video, Apple TV, Tubi, Nine Network, SBS, Sky News, Becker Entertainment, Photon VFX, and Village Roadshow Studios.
His work spans feature films, scripted television, documentaries, factual entertainment, and internationally focused development, with a strong emphasis on commercially scalable storytelling and global audience reach. He has developed and sold original concepts in both Australia and the United States while building projects designed for theatrical, broadcast, and streaming distribution.
Simon also served as the Founder and Executive Chairman of Waterloo Studios Australia, a production facility created to bridge professional production practice with emerging screen industry talent. Through the studio, he developed production environments connecting active industry projects with the next generation of filmmakers and content creators.
Alongside his production career, Simon has held senior leadership positions across the international screen industry, including President of New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi and Australia, Director of Sydney Film School, and Director of Bond University’s Centre for Film, TV & Screen-Based Media.
Throughout his career, Simon has focused on building internationally connected production pathways, industry partnerships, and commercially viable screen projects across multiple global markets. His work combines cinematic storytelling with strategic industry development, international collaboration, and audience-driven entertainment.
