Grammy-nominated artist Jenny Oaks Baker is one of America's most distinguished and cherished violinists. She began playing the violin at age four and made her solo orchestral debut in 1983 at just eight years old. Jenny earned her Master of Music degree from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City and her bachelor's degree in violin performance from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She has performed as a soloist at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Strathmore Hall, and the Library of Congress, and has appeared as a guest soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Utah Symphony, the Orchestra at Temple Square, and the internationally acclaimed Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Throughout her career, Jenny has collaborated with notable figures such as Gladys Knight, Kurt Bestor, Marvin Hamlisch, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She served as a first violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra for seven years before stepping down in 2007 to focus on her young family. Since 1998, Jenny has released twelve albums, which have collectively sold over 250,000 copies and consistently appeared on Billboard charts, including reaching #1 on the Top Classical Albums chart. Her album Wish Upon a Star received a nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Album at the 54th Grammy Awards. Her latest release, Classic: The Rock Album, has also garnered critical acclaim and topped Billboard charts. Jenny's emotionally powerful music has been featured in the soundtracks of numerous films, such as Helen Whitney's 2007 PBS documentary The Mormons, TC Christiansen's film 17 Miracles, and Mitch Davis' Stuck, which also includes music by The Killers. Additionally, Jenny will make her acting debut playing the violinist character Mandy in Stuck, scheduled for release in Fall 2014. Jenny lives just outside Washington D.C. with her husband Matthew and their four children.
