Sofia Richie was born on August 24, 1998, in Los Angeles, California, to music legend Lionel Richie and his wife, Diane Alexander. She is the younger half-sister of entrepreneur and fashion icon Nicole Richie and made her television debut at age 15 on Nicole's VH-1 show, Candidly Nicole (2014).
Richie's modeling career launched in 2014 with features in Who What Wear, Elle Magazine, and the cover story of NationAlist Magazine. She became the face of Mary Grace Swim and collaborated with Teen Vogue and Olay for the #FreshtoSchool online campaign that year. She ended 2014 by signing with L.A. Models and Select Model Management.
In early 2015, Sofia worked on editorial shoots for Unleash'd, Elle Girl Japan, Nylon, Fault, Dazed, and Love Culture magazine. In April, she landed her first magazine cover on the debut issue of Popular magazine. She later modeled for Young & Reckless and Brandy Melville and appeared on the July cover of ASOS Magazine. Stella McCartney personally invited her to the 2015 Met Ball as a guest. In August, pop icon Madonna announced Sofia as the new face of Material Girl, her exclusive Macy's clothing line featuring apparel, footwear, handbags, jewelry, and accessories, celebrating its fifth anniversary.
At just 17, Sofia is rapidly rising in the modeling world. She has recently shot editorials for V. Galore, Clam, W, VVV, and C- magazines and is being considered for a television show.
Sofia is represented by Alex Avant, an entertainment executive and son of music and entertainment legend Clarence Avant.
