Biografia
Urs Rechn was born on January 18, 1978, in Halle/Saale, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, then part of the former GDR. He is the second of three children born to Günther Rechn, a prominent painter and graphic artist in East Germany, and Beate Rechn.
Starting in 1987, Urs attended the Special Grammar School for Music "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Halle, where he excelled in cello, French horn, and singing. After the Berlin Wall fell, his family moved to Cottbus, Brandenburg. There, he enrolled at the 1st Academic High School for Music and Fine Arts "Heinrich Heine" and the Konservatorium Cottbus. He stood out as the junior conductor of the youth symphony orchestra and brass band.
Although he had no formal acting training, Urs began an acting career encouraged by the esteemed East German director and impresario Christoph Schroth. He performed in stage productions including "Hamlet" (1995), "The Beaver Coat" (1996), and "Steig' in das Traumboot der Liebe" (1996), and sang as a chorister in Mozart's "The Magic Flute" (1995) at the State Theater Cottbus.
In 1997, due to conscription, Urs joined the German paratroopers and later the special forces. During his service, he appeared in several TV episodes through an arrangement with his commanding officer. After completing active duty in 2002, he enrolled at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy," graduating in 2004. He has since served as a visiting scholar at the same institution.
Urs Rechn has devoted much of his acting career to the stage, performing with the Staatsschauspiel Dresden (2003–2005), Landestheater Tübingen (2005–2007), and Theater Chemnitz (2008–2013). His notable roles include Treplev in "The Seagull," Brick in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," Antonio in "The Merchant of Venice," Marcus Antonius in "Julius Caesar," Caligula in "Caligula," Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire," and Jonathan Peachum in "The Threepenny Opera.
