Biografia
Valeria Alonso (Argentina-Spanish) is a multidisciplinary artist born in Buenos Aires. She began her artistic journey at age 12, studying acting and dancing, later expanding into writing and directing. Valeria has acted in films with directors such as Alberto Rodriguez, Jonás Trueba, Javier Rebollo, Matteo Minetto, Félix Viscarret, Nicanor Loreti, Lucas Figueroa, and Nerea Castro. Her television work includes projects for Televisión Española, Cuatro, Telefe, Paramount Comedy, and RAI, among others. She has performed with the De la Guarda and La Fura dels Baus companies in various productions and collaborates with numerous directors, companies, and artistic projects.
As the artistic director of La Cabra company, Valeria integrates video, dance, and theater in her work. She directed her first project at age 20, creating the show *The Egg* (El huevo), developed through an intensive six-month experimental process with a group of 10 artists, establishing a theater space within Buenos Aires' theater circuit. In 2002, she moved to Paris to further explore the integration of theater, dance, and video. By 2005, while residing in Madrid, she founded her company La Cabra, aiming to produce scenic and visual projects and artistic exchange events that reflect on social issues and offer alternative, poetic perspectives on the world and life. She frequently collaborates with various artists depending on each project’s needs.
In 2006, Valeria won First Prize at the 20th Choreographic Competition of Madrid for her dance-video piece *Osario*. She also received the First Prize Paris Young Talents in 2003, awarded by the French Government in 2004 for *Mamó*, an honorary playwriting prize from the National Fund of the Arts of Buenos Aires, and a scholarship from the Swiss Government in 2013 to create the dance video *Viento Mucho Viento*, which premiered in Geneva. Valeria has created and directed 10 shows, performances, and various videos, working in Spain, France, Belgium, the USA, England, Switzerland, Italy, Argentina, Japan, and China. Alongside her own productions, she has acted in works by other companies.
Between 2001 and 2011, she produced short films and the 40-minute film *La Queja*, which was featured in the "Femmes Réalisatrices" section of the 14th Latin American Film Festival in Toulouse, France (2002), Festival Sueños Cortos in Buenos Aires (2001), and FIAES in Argentina (2003).
