Robinhood Ferdinand Padilla, professionally known as Robin Padilla, is a Filipino actor, screenwriter, producer, and director renowned for his '90s action films, often portraying antihero roles that earned him the nickname "Bad Boy" of Philippine cinema. He is also known as "The Action Prince" or "The Prince of Philippine Action Movies."
Padilla was born in Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines, to Casimero Roy Padilla Sr., a filmmaker, and Lolita Eva Cariño. He is the brother of Bb Gandanghari and Rommel Padilla; uncle to Bela Padilla, Daniel Padilla, and Mark Anthony Fernandez; and father to Queenie Padilla and Kylie Padilla. He is married to Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla.
Padilla began his film career in the '80s, mainly starring in movies produced by RCP Productions. His prominence in show business rose in the '90s with films alongside Sharon Cuneta (Maging Sino Ka Man, 1991) and Vina Morales (Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum, 1991).
In the 2000s, Padilla transitioned to television, appearing in series on ABS-CBN, then GMA, before returning to ABS-CBN in the 2010s. During this period, he also took roles in comedy films while maintaining his "bad boy" persona.
Though widely recognized for action roles, Padilla has demonstrated versatility by acting in comedy, thriller, horror, and drama films and TV series. He received two Best Actor awards at the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival and the 2014 GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards for his leading role in 10,000 Hours (2013), directed by Joyce Bernal, portraying a Philippine senator forced to go on the run.
Additionally, Padilla has served as a recurring judge on Pilipinas Got Talent (2010), the Philippine adaptation of Britain's Got Talent (2007), where judges search for the most unique and talented performers in the country.
