Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia, rising actress Taylor Hickson has steadily established herself in the entertainment world by portraying a wide range of compelling characters. Whether playing the sweet girl next door, a determined assassin-in-training, or a resilient apocalypse survivor, Hickson consistently showcases her versatility.
Most recently, Hickson starred in the acclaimed indie drama "Giant Little Ones" [Mongrel Media], alongside Maria Bello, Kyle MacLachlan, and Josh Wiggins. The film centers on two popular teenage boys, Franky Winter (Wiggins) and Ballas Kohl (Darren Mann), lifelong best friends whose lives, families, and relationships are upended after an unexpected event at Franky’s seventeenth birthday party. Hickson stood out as Natasha Kohl, Ballas’ sister, who is marginalized by their peers. "Giant Little Ones" debuted at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival to widespread praise, with The Hollywood Reporter describing it as a "beautifully acted story that manages to transcend quite a few – if not all – of the coming-of-age genre's clichés."
On television, Hickson will appear in the highly anticipated SYFY series "Deadly Class" (2019), executive produced by Joe and Anthony Russo ("The Avengers"). The show follows a disillusioned teen recruited into a high school for assassins during the late 1980s counterculture. Hickson plays Petra, a moody goth student at the School for the Deadly Arts. She was also recently cast as the lead in Freeform's drama pilot "Motherland," created by Eliot Laurence ("Claws") and executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Kevin Messick. The series explores a secret government program that enlists witches for combat missions. Her other credits include Twentieth Century Fox’s "Deadpool" opposite Ryan Reynolds, MGM's "Everything, Everything" with Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson, the indie thriller "Residue," and SYFY’s apocalyptic series "Aftermath."
Born and raised in Canada, Hickson began her career at twelve, singing alongside her father at venues across British Columbia. As her passion for music grew, she started writing her own songs and graduated high school a year early to focus on her music. Encouraged by a relative, she auditioned for an agency at 16 and quickly landed roles, including a part in the psychological thriller "Blackway" with Anthony Hopkins, Ray Liotta, and Julia Stiles. She then starred in the Canadian indie film "Hunting Pignut," based on writer/director Martine Blue’s true story, portraying Bernice, a 15-year-old runaway searching for her missing father. Since then, Hickson has maintained a busy acting career.
In addition to acting and music, Hickson is deeply committed to philanthropy. She actively supports International Justice Mission and Free the Children, organizations dedicated to combating child slavery and alleviating extreme poverty among children. Hickson has taken part in food drives, fundraising efforts for both groups, and during high school raised enough money to build a school and supply educational materials for underprivileged children.
