Gianluca Sia is an Italian screenwriter, director, and actor. Holding a degree in Performing Arts, Cinema, and Media Studies, he has worked in the audiovisual industry for over twenty years, gaining experience across film, television, and education. Throughout his career, he has developed an independent artistic path, distinguishing himself through a cinema deeply attentive to the human dimension and social issues. His short films explore themes of strong emotional and civic impact, ranging from multiple sclerosis to child labor exploitation, from bullying to autism, and the social consequences of the covid -19 pandemic. These works have received selections and awards at numerous film festivals, earning the attention of both critics and audiences. With his first feature film, Io resto qua! (Stay On!), available on Prime Video, Sia approached the topic of breast cancer prevention and treatment with sensitivity and originality, transforming the discovery of illness into a broader reflection on the value of life, memory, and human relationships. The film received awards and honorable mentions at several international festivals, confirming the possibility of promoting innovative, poetic, and socially engaged cinema from Southern Italy. Known for an essential yet emotionally intense style, Gianluca Sia develops a cinematic research grounded in listening, attention to detail, and creative freedom. His works often explore the relationship between time (L’attimo in cui..., 2023), identity, and memory through an intimate and sensory mise-en-scène, where image, sound, and rhythm combine to create an experience that is both perceptual and narrative.
