Biografia
Indranil Banerjee is an award-winning Indian filmmaker and commercial director, widely recognized for his distinctive storytelling style and internationally acclaimed body of work. His films including The Chase, The Mirage, Trinayani - The 3rd Eye, One Night Stand, Hello, Ujjhyo - The Unsaid, and Paramitar Angti have earned critical appreciation across global film circuits. Notably, Ujjhyo - The Unsaid achieved worldwide distribution on Apple TV, reaching audiences across 160+ countries.
An alumnus of the New York Film Academy (NYFA), New York City, Indranil combines international cinematic sensibilities with rooted Indian narratives. He has also directed successful Bengali telefilms, most notably the widely appreciated Bahannoborti, further establishing his versatility across formats.
As a pioneer in innovative storytelling, Indranil made history by directing India’s first horror mini-series, 4 Shades of Leap*(2020), which streamed internationally on Amazon Prime (USA & UK). He continued to break new ground with India’s first silent mini-series, A Sinful Story (2022), and created Kolkata’s first sitcom, Paanchphoron, featuring legendary actor Paran Bandopadhyay.
He is the Founder and CEO of Unity Pictures, his award-winning film production house, and Unity Commercials, a Kolkata-based advertising film agency known for crafting cinematic brand narratives. Under his direction, the agency achieved a significant milestone by producing India’s first drone-based cosmetic advertisement for the Kerala-based Ayurvedic brand Thea Ojas. His creative signature is defined by record-setting, concept-driven work that pushes boundaries. Continuing this trajectory, he directed the documentary Azad, based on Maulana Azad College, Kolkata, produced by the college’s Alumni Association as part of the institution’s 100-year celebration.
Beyond filmmaking, Indranil Banerjee is an active contributor to the global film community. He serves as a jury member at several prestigious international film festivals, including Oscar-qualifying, Canadian Screen Awards-qualifying, and BAFTA-qualifying platforms such as the Durban International Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Seattle Film Festival, T.O. Webfest, Vienna International Film Awards, Sarno Film Festival, and South Texas International Film Festival, among others.
