Born in 1984 in Yerevan, Armenia, Sarik Andreasyan became one of Russia's top three highest-grossing directors by age 29, according to Variety Russia. At 23, he gained recognition by directing a successful remake of the Russian cult classic "Office Romance." His widely beloved box office hit "Moms" solidified his reputation as one of the most talented and profitable directors in Russia. The sequel, "Happy New Year, Moms!," featured an ensemble cast including the legendary Alan Delon.
In 2013, Sarik began his American career, collaborating with Adrien Brody and Hayden Christensen on the highly anticipated dramatic action film "American Heist." The following year, he produced and directed the sci-fi thriller "Mafia," based on a popular international social game. Featuring top Russian talent and impressive CGI, the film achieved the biggest opening upon release.
In 2016, Sarik tackled the devastating Spitak earthquake in the epic drama "Earthquake," filmed on location. His passionate approach, unique style, and sincere portrayal of human suffering led to the film being selected by the National Armenian Film Committee to represent Armenia in the Academy Awards race. Later that year, Sarik pushed boundaries with "Guardians" (2017), the most ambitious project from the region to date. Described by a Rotten Tomatoes critic as having a "bone-headed" plot and poor visual effects, the film was also praised for its pure and unironic charm, at times unintentionally hilarious. Recognized by The Hollywood Reporter, The Guardian, and others, "Guardians" became one of the most anticipated international releases of 2017.
By the end of 2017, Sarik Andreasyan had four projects in development, including the sci-fi thriller "Coma" and the post-apocalyptic epic "Station 88." He is poised to establish himself as one of the most sought-after directors by Hollywood producers and a visionary filmmaker of his generation.
