From his childhood backyards of Oxnard, California, and Moore, Oklahoma, where his parents would hear him broadcasting imaginary football games, to the high-stakes world of live sports television and award-winning filmmaking, Chris’s journey has always been powered by a single force: a passion for storytelling.
After earning a degree in Radio/TV/Film at the University of Oklahoma, where he also played football, Chris dove headfirst into the industry. His first role as a news and sports videographer for the ABC affiliate in Gainesville, Florida, offered a front-row seat to the power of visual narrative. It was there he got his first taste of the film world, working as a grip for cinematographer David McAlpine on Ron Howard’s Parenthood-a brief but formative experience that would plant a seed for the future.
Throughout the ‘90s, Chris built a dynamic career in live television. As a sports radio producer and host in Tampa, and in various roles for broadcasting giants like ABC, CBS, ESPN, and Fox Sports, he mastered the art of engaging an audience in real-time. Yet, the creative spark ignited on the set of Parenthood never faded, eventually guiding his transition from the control room to the director’s chair.
In 2006, Chris made his mark in the world of documentary filmmaking, producing the award-winning Anatomy of a Fraud. He followed this success by stepping into the role of Producer and Director for its equally acclaimed sequel. His directorial prowess continued to grow, culminating in the 2013 PBS documentary Pride: Recreating an Old Town Bank. For this project, Chris showcased his multifaceted talent, also serving as the project’s cinematographer and editor, and earning another award in the process.
Eager to expand his storytelling reach, Chris began exploring scripted narratives through a series of short films. This work laid the foundation for his next creative leap. In 2015, he created, produced, and directed his first dramatic project, American Con, a film that brought together a cast including Rex Linn, James Carroll, and Mark Adam Goff.
His dedication to cinema has since grown to include a vital role in film financing through his work with Raya Film projects. Recently, Chris served as an Associate Producer on the 2023 thriller Casting Kill and is eagerly awaiting the 2026 release of Cult Night, the next project from Raya Films to benefit from his support.
Whether chronicling true stories, crafting fictional worlds, or helping bring new visions to the screen, Chris continues to bring a unique blend of journalistic integrity, live-event energy, and cinematic passion to every project he undertakes.
