Erika Alexander is celebrated for her iconic roles as Maxine Shaw in Living Single, Detective Latoya in Get Out, Perenna in Black Lightning, and Linda Diggs in Wu-Tang: An American Saga. She is a multifaceted talent—actress, pioneering activist, entrepreneur, creator, producer, and director. As Co-Founder of Color Farm Media and a Board Member of VoteRunLead and One Fair Wage, Erika is dedicated to advancing equity, inclusion, and diverse representation across media, technology, and electoral politics.
Her company, Color Farm Media, produces both scripted and unscripted content for film, television, streaming, and podcasts. Their latest film, John Lewis: Good Trouble, is a documentary about the legendary Congressman and civil rights leader, distributed by Magnolia Pictures, Participant, and CNN Films. Color Farm is also producing two podcasts with Spotify and has multiple scripted film and television projects underway. The company previously developed an untitled horror/thriller, written by Erika, at Lionsgate Entertainment. Erika is also co-writer of Giles, a Buffy spin-off graphic novel created in collaboration with Joss Whedon and Dark Horse. Additionally, she contributed to Dark Horse’s award-winning sci-fi series Concrete Park. Currently, Erika is co-directing a documentary on reparations and racial equity with filmmaker Whitney Dow.
Born in Winslow, Arizona, Erika was raised in Philadelphia.
