Ray Mamrak is a writer, director, and occasional actor affiliated with unions and guilds. In 2013, The Screen Actors Guild recognized him as one of the most active producers in the Northeastern United States. He continues to develop and create new projects for television, film, and new media releases worldwide.
From a young age, Ray was an amateur filmmaker, using a Kodak Super8 camera to create live-action and stop-motion films for family and friends. His passion for filmmaking truly began during his freshman year of high school, after working as a background actor on the set of the film Eddie and the Cruisers.
Following a period of service in the United States Army, Ray pursued formal education in filmmaking at several colleges, universities, and private institutions, some of which he has later taught at. After completing his studies, he explored various roles in the entertainment industry, working with studios, networks, and independent film companies in any capacity available.
"I wanted to learn it all. I studied films, watching the great ones repeatedly to understand what made them great, and the bad ones to see what made them fail. How can someone be a great filmmaker and performer without understanding all aspects of the business—a business that defines who they are?" he shared in an interview for SAG Magazine. "I continue to learn every day and will do so until the day I am laid to rest."
Ray's experience spans writing, directing, producing, editing, acting, and even credits as a stuntman and costume designer, demonstrating his commitment to mastering every facet of filmmaking. He applies this knowledge to his own productions and production companies, including Automatic Art Pictures and KMR Entertainment. Additionally, he was a co-owner of The Broadway Acting School, where he taught the Meisner Technique to students, some of whom he still collaborates with today.
