Biografia
Marion Mitterhammer, born in Austria in 1965, received her training at the Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Graz. She began her stage career at the Theatre in Baden-Baden and the Salzburg Festival, collaborating with directors Jürgen Flimm and Thomas Langhoff in Salzburg. In 1990, she toured in a production of Chekhov's 'Platonov' alongside Götz George. Between 1990 and 1991, she performed at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, working under directors including Otto Schenk and Harald Clemen. Discovered for television by director Bernd Fischerauer in 1992, she starred as Lotti von Mitzko in the Austrian TV film 'Der Salzbaron,' earning the Austrian Motion Picture Award for Best Upcoming Artist in 1994.
Since then, Mitterhammer has appeared in numerous German and Austrian films and TV movies such as 'Die Strassen von Berlin,' 'Tatort,' 'Wie eine Spinne im Netz,' 'Schmutzige Wahrheit,' 'Kommissar Rex,' 'Eine Sünde zuviel,' 'Julia (Die Bezirksrichterin),' 'Quintett komplett,' 'Die Callboys,' and 'Klinik unter Palmen.' In 1999, she featured in two TV films: 'Das Mädchen aus der Torte,' directed by Peter Weck, and 'Verbotenes Verlangen,' directed by Soltan Spirandelli, where she played the lead role. In 2000, she led in Rosamunde Pilcher's 'Zerrissene Herzen' and 'Das Traumschiff,' both directed by Michael Steinke. The following year, she appeared in the three-part TV series 'Liebe, Lüge, Leidenschaft' (directed by Marco Serafini) and the film 'Verrückt nach Paris.'
Her significant projects in 2002 included 'Auch erben will gelernt sein,' 'Der Mond im See,' 'Held der Gladiatoren' (directed by Jorgo Papavassiliou), and an episode of 'Bella Block.' For the feature film 'Böse Zellen,' she worked with director Barbara Albert (known for 'Nordrand'). The TV drama 'Gefährliche Gefühle' (directed by Martin Enlen) was presented at the Munich Film Festival in 2003. In 2005, Mitterhammer starred in two films for Austrian broadcaster ORF: 'Tor zur Hölle' (directed by Max Gruber) and 'Heaven' (directed by David Schalko). That same year, she also appeared in 'PingPong,' a feature film written and directed by Matthias Luthardt, which was invited to the Semaine de la Critique at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
After living in Paris, Naples, and Berlin, Marion Mitterhammer is currently based in Vienna.
