Biografia
Anna Kyriakou was a Greek actress who trained at the Drama School of the National Theater and at the École de théâtre Charles Dullin in Paris (1954-1956), studying under Jean Vilar. She made her theatrical debut as a teenager at the REX Theater with the Marika Kotopouli troupe in the play "Carmen." She later worked with the Manolidou-Pappas troupe, Vasilis Logothetidis, Katerina Andreadi, and Manos Katrakis. In 1953-1954, she joined Dimitris Myrat's troupe. After returning from Paris, she took on leading roles with the troupes of Dinos Iliopoulos, Mimis Fotopoulos, and Alekos Alexandrakis.
In 1959, she performed at Dimitris Rontiris' "Piraeus Theatre" in the plays "The Mistress of the Inn," "The Marriage of Figaro," and "Electra," before embarking on over two decades of work with the National Theatre. Her first major success there was as Calliope in "Temptation" by Grigorios Xenopoulos. Between 1960 and 1981, she played leading roles in 34 productions at the National Theater. In 1982, she collaborated with Antonis Antypas and Hristos Politis' "Aplo Theatro," appearing in the opening act of "Entertaining Mr Sloane."
Her film career included notable roles in "O methystakas" (1950), "Ziteitai pseftis" (1961), "Bridegroom Urgently Wanted" (1971), "Safe Sex" (1999), "To klama vgike ap' ton Paradeiso" (2001), and "Blackmail Boy" (2003), among others. She also appeared in many television series, from "Ekeinos ki ekeinos" (1972), "I geitonia mas" (1972), and "Yungermann" (1976) during the 1970s, to "Oi treis Harites" (1990), where she portrayed the iconic Aunt Bebeka. She guest-starred in "Constantine's and Helen's" (1998) as Aunt Maro and appeared in "Epta thanasimes petheres" (2004) as the malevolent mother-in-law. Additionally, she had an extensive repertoire in radio drama.
A member of the Union of Greek Actors since 1949, she was married to the prominent modernist architect Margaritis Apostolidis. Together, they had a son, Christos Apostolidis, a civil engineer.
